Euro 2008 Sweepstake

This is the big draw for the Euro 2008 sweepstake.

We have a £16 kitty which will be split thus:
  • £7 for the winner
  • £4 for the runner-up
  • £2 for each losing semi-finalist
  • £1 for the team that lets in most goals in the group stages (if two or more teams concede the same amount then the one that scores fewer or fewest goals is the winner, if it's still a tie then you can fight over it)

  1. Greece, Czech Republic and Switzerland are all out. Sorry Clint, Naomi and Charlotte.

My money is on a final between Yvette and Helen - Nick and Keren losing in the semis.

  2. Emma and Phil are now out too. Germany didn't win Group B so that means Keren and Helen meet in the quarter final.

  3. Amy and Goldsy are now out.

However, tonight we find out who has conceded the most goals in the group stages and Amy is the current leader.

France and the Czech Rep have both conceded six but France are ahead as they have only scored one against the Czech's four.

Group D finishes tonight with Spain v Greece and Russia v Sweden. Greece have conceded three so far and scored none so Clint needs Spain to score four or to win 3-0. If Greece score five (!) Nick takes the dosh and I'll eat my sombrero.

In the other match, Russia have conceded four and scored two so I'm looking for Sweden to score at least three. On the other hand, Ted needs Russia to score five.

  4. Sweden are now out - sorry Ted.

    The quarter finals are:
    Hels v Keren
    Hicko v Gareth
    Yvette v Shep
    Nick v Jon

Well done Amy for picking the sloppiest defence in the tournament. Your quid is winging its way to you by carrier pigeon.

  5. More favourites bite the dust as Holland, Italy, Croatia and Portugal all go out. Sorry Yvette, Hels, Jon and Hicko.

    The semi-finals are:
    Kezza v Gareth
    Shep v Nick

So it could be an all Shepherd final. Keep your shouts of 'fix' to yourselves!

  6. Gareth and me win £2 each but the big money final is between Keren and Nick.

  7. Congratulations to Nick. Spain's victory means he wins £7. There's £4 for Kezza as the runner-up. Russia and Turkey cocked it up in the semis so me and Gareth get 2 quid each and the final pound goes to Amy due to the aged French defence.
