Meet Ron

After a brief visit to Hykeham Road, Ron decided that he was fed up with being hated by his half-sister. He's now decided to move in with M&C! He's gonna love them fields.

I'm back

I've been extremely lax at keeping things up to date on here. It's been months since the campsite olympics and all I've managed to post are a few videos. So what's been happening? Well, a quick review of my calendar shows that I have been doing mostly 'stuff'. Here's the briefest of brief résumés.

  • September
Went to Dublin for a short break with Kezza. We took advantage of some £1 flights from Ryanair. First time there and it was fun although not very 'Irish'. Full Irish breakfasts were good though!
Ian, Louise, Richard, Jen and Ross all came up to Shep Towers for a weekend. Lots of good food, good booze, good walking and good banter!
I'm the 'Guv'! Ling Moor School have appointed me as a community governor. Very exciting but somewhat nervous.
Represented Danwood at a charity quiz hosted by Langley's Solicitors. We came third out of about 25 so pretty happy.

  • October
Had a week in Northumberland. Never been up that way before and it's absolutely beautiful. We were really lucky with the weather; which was especially important as we were staying in a caravan (another first). It was v cold at night; I haven't thawed out yet.
My colleague from GE in Bristol took me and Matthew (a colleague from Danwood) out for dinner to thank us for our hard work! Nice one! We went to Gino's and had a slap up feast.
Of course the big news of October was the release of Quantum of Solace. For the first time in a long time, I didn't go on the opening day. It was month end and I just couldn't get away. How things change when you have to grow up.

  • November
Went to see QoS twice. Usual nerves about going to the cinema and the chances of me ending up near someone who is eating, talking, drinking, texting, or just breathing loudly. I managed to get a seat at the front and avoided all the plebs.
Went laserquesting with some guys from work. We got a great deal because they'd double booked and cancelled on us last time. Much fun and we won!
Keren had a week staying with Tony, Jo and, new arrival, Ivy Maeve. That meant lots of cuddles for her and lots of takeaways for me. Everyone's a winner!
Had a weekend with Lou and Pat in their new house. They've bagged a really nice place in a great village. Had superb meal in the local but wish I'd chosen the pie! Mmmmm shortcrustastic. More new house visits on the way home as we popped in to see Gareth & Helen in their sprawling pile!
More team building at the end of the month as we all went target shooting, buggy driving, duck shepherding and human 5-a-siding. Great morning out, especially the buggies.... Need!

  • December
Weekend in Amersham to visit the Chases and Emma and Tariq. Drove down in absolutely horrendous rain. It was really vicious and I was glad to arrive. There was a lot of sick notes on display. Martin and Charlotte didn't make it at all (a shame, as Charlotte is the only one who enjoys going), Q was very sick and Penny was also under the weather. Still we pressed on regardless and had the usual Christmas fun. Thanks S & Q.
Went carol singing at Beckside old people's home. Quote of the day: after 30 minutes of singing carols whilst wearing santa hats and tinsel, one old dear asked Mum, 'Is it christmas?'. Ah bless.
There was the usual Christmas Eve gathering at the Cenny. We managed to blag ourselves a good table and had too much to drink!
Christmas Day morning was spent with the Hickertons, opening presents and then going to New Life. Then it was to the Shepherds for lunch and the rest of the afternoon. Mother put on the usual magnificent spread and I helped myself to double portions of just about everything. We walked home at about 8pm and then opened our presents to one another and Baggy.
Boxing Day morning, I played football down at Fen Lane with some of the lads. Very muddy, very good fun but Martin and I both ended up with Christmas injuries. Ah well, it didn't stop us both enjoying another Christmas lunch with the Hickertons. Turkey bonanza!
On the day after Boxing Day, K & I celebrated our anniversary (two days early) with a walk that started and ended in Timberland. This was planned so we could sample the food at the Penny Farthing. Bl**dy brill! Go there.
Sunday 28th comprised of a trip to Gainsborough where we met up with Richard and Jen for lunch and trip to Gainsborough Model Railway Society (see video below). In the evening we were visited by Nick & Jo and Alan, Caroline and baby Charlotte. K supplied a cornucopia of nibbles and it was very good to catch up. I hadn't seen them since our wedding.
29th was our anniversary and we celebrated it in style at Steven's. More food, more drink, more chat, more laughs. Well, it's what Christmas is all about isn't it?
30th... can't for the life of me remember what we did on the 30th. Oh well, sure it'll come back to me.
New year's eve was spent with Jon, Nick & Amy and Martin & Charlotte. Nick had organised tickets for the Tap & Spile and it was great. We got the perfect corner table and played Yahtzee and cards. How rock and roll are we?
New year's day and we had a very exciting afternoon because we went to pick up Ron, our new pussy cat. K's heart strings have been well and truly plucked by all the RSPCA, PDSA etc ads on TV over Christmas. We both felt that we had room in our home for another moggie and Ron from Lincoln Cat Care fitted the bill perfectly.
In the evening, M & C came round for dinner and board games. We had a ruthless game of monopoly which was finally won by K.
Well that's just about everything that I can remember. I'll try and do more than one post every four months from now on.
